Ride The Scenic Gondola To The Top Of The World

From Main Lodge you can take the scenic gondola to the 11,000 foot peak for breathtaking 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. From there you can either ride the gondola back down, or opt for the 5 mile approximately three hour hike down the other side to the lakes basin and take the shuttle back to the Village.

Boating, Fishing and Relaxing in The Lakes Basin

Just 10 minutes up Lake Mary road is Twin Lakes, the first of the five lakes that make up the Mammoth Lake Basin. Each lake has its unique qualities with Horseshoe being a great spot for relaxing on the beach oir a hike around the perimeter, to Lake Mary with its full service marina for kayaking, boating, SUP and fishing.

About 30 minutes north of Mammoth on 395, a drive through the June Lakes basin is a nice way to take in the scenery, have a meal and enjoy life at a slower place in this small mountain town.

About 40 minutes north on 395 is ancient Mono Lake featuring interesting calcium pillars that were created by the evaporation of the lake over the past million years.

About an hours drive from Mammoth, through the Tioga pass, is the East entrance to Yosemite National Park. Visit Lake Tenaya and take in the views of half dome from above or drive another 90 minutes to the valley floor.

Bodie Ghost Town State Historic Park – (2 hour drive)

About two hours north on Highway 395, Bodie is a Ghost that had a poulation of 10,000 people and 2,000 buildings at the height of the gold rush.
